Pursuant to 16 USC§ 551 and 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the
Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area lands within the State of Oregon as shown on the attached map. This Order supersedes Forest Order 06-22-01-23-01, signed on October 20th, 2023 by
Donna Mickley. This Order becomes effective December 2, 2024 and remains in effect through November 01, 2025, unless rescinded sooner.
Prohibitions:
- Going into or being upon an area closed for the protection of public health or safety. (36 CFR § 261.53(e)).
- Being on a trail. (36 CFR § 261.55(a)).
Closure Area Description:
National Forest System lands administered by the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area within Multnomah County, State of Oregon:
- Oneonta Gorge: The area within the walls of Oneonta Gorge between the Historic Columbia River Hwy (Hwy 30) and the Horsetail Falls Trail bridge spanning Oneonta Creek.
National Forest System trails administered by the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area within Multnomah and Hood River Counties, State of Oregon:
Tanner Butte Trail #401: All
Ruckel Creek Trail #405: All
Moffett Creek Trail #430: All

Exemptions:
Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:
- Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.
- Any Federal, State, or local official or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- The following Agencies engaged in business in the area:
- Bonneville Power Administration
- United States Anny Corps of Engineers
- Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife for fish hatchery operations.
- Oregon Department of Transportation
- Oregon Parks and Recreation Department
Purpose:
This closure is necessary to provide protection for forest users from hazards present in the area following the Eagle Creek Fire.
