Sandy River Delta Section 536 Ecosystem Restoration Project
Restore the historic main channel of the Sandy River at the delta by removing a dam built in the 1930s and excavating a pilot channel within the historic main channel, which will improve habitat for salmon and steelhead. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is responsible for the primary action of dam removal and associated activities and will make a determination of significance of impacts resulting from the proposed action. Actions on National Forest Service lands include staging areas, use of road system, rock storage areas, and development of helicopter landing sites on Sundial Island. The Forest Service Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant are limited to these actions. The Environmental Assessment is available at: http://go.usa.gov/gAQC
