Big Four Picnic Area

This day use area has several picnic tables and barbeque grills surrounding the grounds of the former Big Four Inn, which burned to the ground in 1949. The spectacular scenery from the picnic area makes this a perfect picnic place for visitors of all ages. While some in the group may not choose to hike the rest could hike the easy, one mile hike to the Ice Caves. (NEVER enter the caves)

General Information

This picnic area has large parking areas and is popular for family gatherings with no reservations required or available.

Recreation Passes may be used as a form of fee payment. 

Please access the trail from the Ice Caves Trailhead parking area.  Dogs on leash/day use only

Day Use:
$5 per vehicle per day
$30 per annual

$5/vehicle/day or the Northwest Forest Pass or Interagency Pass

Directions

From Verlot Public Service Center, travel 14.5 miles east on the Mt. Loop Scenic Byway. The picnic area is located on the south side of the highway, just beyond the Big Four Trailhead.
