The Pocket Recreation Area Group Picnic Shelter
This area is located off the Ridge and Valley Scenic Byway. It was once a Civilian Conservation Corps Camp from 1938 until 1942. Some of these remains can still be seen in this area. If not reserved, the picnic shelter is available first come, first served. To reserve call 1-877-444-6777 or go to www.recreation.gov.
General Information
Open year-round
Day Use. Closed from sunset to sunrise.
Accomodates up to 75 people. Drinking water is available across the parking lot in the main picnic area. Alcohol is prohibited in the entire Pocket Recreation Area.
Picnic Shelter: $35/day + $10 to reserve. If not reserved, the shelter is available free of charge on a first-come/first served basis. The $5 parking fee is still applicable even if the shelter is reserved.
