The North River Ranger District is proposing a project to move the area toward the desired future conditions described in the 2014 Revised Land and Resource Management Plan for the George Washington National Forest.

The Mad Lick Project Area is located in Augusta County about 8 miles northwest of Staunton, VA. The project area is 17,710 acres in size and includes about 16,553 acres of Forest Service land.
