Brandywine Recreation Area

Located on the 10-acre Brandywine Lake, this wooded recreation area affords access to multiple hiking and mountain biking trails, a swimming beach, and a campground with an onsite host.

This campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

General Information

The America the Beautiful Interagency Pass series and the George Washington & Jefferson National Forests Seasonal Day Use Pass are accepted here and cover day use fees. The America the Beautiful Senior and Access Passes provide a 50% discount to the base campsite fee (not hook ups) and day use fees. 

Not suitable for large RVs. Dump station is available. Sites are limited to one RV or  two tents, no more than two vehicles, and no more than eight persons per site. When recreating on Forest Service Lands, follow the safety and outdoor ethics recommendations.

Day Use:
$8 per vehicle per day (Up to 8 Passengers)
$2 per person per day (buses and vans)

 $20 per campsite per night during the primary (summer) recreation season and $10 per campsite per night during the winter season when water is not available. 

Please, keep your pet on a leash when in a recreation area or campground. The law requires dog owners to keep their dog on a leash with a length no greater than 6 feet and under physical control when within a recreational area, such as a campground or day use area (36 CFR 2616(j)).

Directions

From Harrisonburg, VA: Take Route 33 West, 26 miles into West Virginia. The recreation area is 4.2 miles West of the Virginia-West Virginia state line and about 2 miles East of the town of Brandywine, WV.

Bath houses have hot showers and flush toilets during open season.

Potable water is available at this site.

Water is available only when the site is open for the season.
