Laurel Fork Trails

Laurel Fork is in the headwaters of the Potomac River in the Allegheny Mountains with elevations to 4,000'. The area is located in Highland County, Virginia and administered by the James River and Warm Springs Ranger Districts of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests.

Drinking water is not provided. All water taken from natural sources should be purified before use.

When recreating on Forest Service Lands, follow the safety and outdoor ethics recommendations and Forest Supervisor’s Orders. Motorized use, including e-bikes, is prohibited. Trails are open to hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

All visitors should follow Tread Lightly and Leave No Trace guidelines.

Directions

From Staunton, VA: Take US 250 west through Monterey into W. Virginia to it's intersection with west Virginia Route 28. Turn North(right) onto Rt. 28 and proceed about 6 miles to FDR 106 and the signs for the Locust Springs Recreation Area.
