Bent Creek Experimental Forest
Established in 1927 to study rehabilitation of cutover, degraded forests, Bent Creek is the oldest experimental forest in the East. The area is now used to research current issues that threaten or enhance the health and productivity of forests. Signs are located at trailheads stating designated trail usage. Please follow the rules and remember that the Bent Creek Experimental Forest is designated for research on forest ecology and management, and research study sites must not be disturbed.

From the Asheville Supervisor's Office: I 26 East to Exit 33 to enter Hwy. 191 South (Brevard Hwy.). Go south on Hwy. 191 to Bent Creek Road (left at traffic signal). Follow signs to NC Arboretum and Lake Powhatan Recreation Area.
