- Plan ahead and ride responsibly. Help keep trails safe and sustainable for all users.
Before You Ride:
- Check weather and trail conditions. Rain can make trails hazardous or closed.
- Know the rules. Some trails are multi-use (hikers, bikers, riders) – yield appropriately.
- Map it out. Bring a physical map or GPS. Cell signal can be unreliable in remote areas.
While on Trial:
- Wear a helmet and appropriate riding gear.
- Ride single file to reduce trail impact.
- Stay on designated trails – riding off-trail can damage habitat and resources.
- Pack out waste and clean up after your horse at trailheads and camps.
At Camp:
- Avoid tying directly to trees.
- Bring feed or certified weed-free hay to prevent invasive plant spread.
