Phenology in the Ceded Territories
Tracking phenological events on the landscape and using seasonal clues historically allowed Ojibwe tribes to successfully hunt, fish, and gather in the upper Great Lakes region. The Great Lakes Indian, Fish, & Wildlife Commission (GLIFWC) Phenology Program studies these indicators, which are still used today to guide the timing and location of different harvest activities. Please join us for an educational evening with GLIFWC Phenology professionals to learn more about this culturally important topic!
