Prescribed Fire (RX)
Fire plays a natural role in ecosystems. Prescribed fires (through broadcast or pile burning) are a way to mimic that phenomenon. Wildland fire managers use the most recent science to create prescribed fire plans, monitor key factors and conditions on the day of a prescribed burn so decision makers are engaged in real-time to determine whether a prescribed burn should be implemented. Prescribed fire is one of the most efficient ways of reducing wildfire risk. Regularly conducting low-grade prescribed fires, which mimic nature, reduces the buildup of flammable vegetation and overgrowth.
