Lake Leander Picnic Area
Lake Leander is a popular swimming area and picnic area for local residents as well as visitors. The picnic area and swimming beach is located on the southern shore of Lake Leander. Large red pines tower over this site along the lake shore.
This site also has a picnic shelter with a stone fireplace, a sandy beach, changing rooms and a playground area.
No public access to lake.
General Information
Open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily from end of May through beginning of September.
When visiting, please remember
- No camping allowed.
- No ATVs allowed.
- No pets on the beach, except for seeing-eye dogs.
- Pets must be leashed in picnic area.
No fees are required for this site
Day Use Area
- Keep dogs on a six-foot, or shorter.
- Pick up and bag your dog’s waste. Place it in a provided trash receptacle or pack it out.
- Do not leave your dog unattended at any time.

- From Virginia take Highway 53 north for 14 miles to County Highway 65.
- Go west (left) on 65 for 6 miles to the picnic/beach area entrance.
