REGIONAL ORDER
Occupancy and Use
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (a) & (b), the following acts are prohibited on all National Forest System lands, roads, and trails located within and/or administered by the Chugach and Tongass National Forests: POSSESSION, CONTROL OR CONSUMPTION OF ANY BEVERAGE THAT IS DEFINED AS AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE, IN VIOLATION OF ALASKA STATE STATUTES (primarily AS 04.16.050, AS 04.16.051 and AS 28.35.029). (Punishable under 36 CFR 261.58bb).
Definition of alcoholic beverage under the Alaska State Statutes: AS 04.21.080 - A spirituous, vinous, malt, or other fermented or distilled liquid intended for human consumption as a beverage by the person who possesses or attempts to possess it and that the substance contains one half of one percent or more of alcohol by volume. These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.
The primary goal of this order is public safety and to protect federal property and users of the Chugach and Tongass National Forests.

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual and $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. (16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559 and 3571)
