Add to your enjoyment with a stop at one of several visitor centers. Get the information you need to enjoy your visit to Alaska’s National Forests.
There are three major Forest Service visitor centers in Alaska. All feature beautiful exhibits, interpretive programs for visitors during the summer months, and educational programs for children during the school year. In each center movies or other audiovisual programs are offered.
Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center
The Mendenhall Glacier is one of Southeast Alaska’s most popular attractions. Located a short drive from downtown Juneau in the Tongass National Forest. The glacier is twelve miles long from its origin on the Juneau Icefield to its terminus at Mendenhall Lake.

Begich, Boggs Visitor Center
The Visitor Center offers an unique opportunity to learn about the Chugach National Forest in the Portage Valley. Award-winning exhibits, educational presentations, information services, and an Alaska Geographic bookstore are available to serve the public.

Southeast Alaska Discovery Center
The main gateway to the Tongass National Forest in Ketchikan, Alaska. The center contains exhibits and interactive displays on the nature, people and traditions of Southeast Alaska. A visitor can experience a temperate rainforest, witness a native fish camp, and view wildlife up close through a spotting scope.

Petersburg Visitor Information Center
The Petersburg Visitor Information Center is filled with brochures, maps, videos, posters, books and a friendly staff. All to help you find the information you need to enjoy your visit to Petersburg, Alaska.

Crooked Creek Information Site
Nestled at the head of Valdez Arm, the Crooked Creek Information Site is poised between the marine world of Prince William Sound and the forests of the mainland.
