Abstract:

This data publication contains the first continental forest stand age map of North America by combining forest inventory data, historical fire data, optical satellite data and the dataset from NASA's Landsat Ecosystem Disturbance Adaptive Processing System (LEDAPS) project. Raster maps represent 2006 stand age at 1 kilometer resolution for Alaska, the conterminous United States, and each forest region. There is also a 2004 stand age map for Canada. A companion map of the standard deviations for age estimates, developed for quantifying uncertainty, is also included.
