Timber Sales
Timber sales support Fremont-Winema National Forest multiple use objectives to foster resilient, adaptive ecosystem, mitigate wildfire risk, and strengthen communities. Timber harvest benefits local communities and economies by providing jobs and revenue through lumber, forest products, wood fiber, and restoration careers. It also improves forest health, and reduces wildfire risk to resources, lives, and property, which can contribute to increased tourism and access to National Forests. A portion of Forest Service funds generated through multi-use activities, such as grazing, timber production, and special use permits, are distributed to eligible counties to through the Secure Rural Schools program to help maintain local roads and schools.
