Wilderness
The AZNST passes through several wilderness areas while traversing the national forests of Arizona.
Please note that mountain bikes and motorized vehicles are not allowed in wilderness areas. If you wish to complete the AZNST via mountain bike, check out some alternative routes for mountain bikers suggested by the Arizona Trail Association.
Coronado National Forest
Tonto National Forest
Coconino & Kaibab National Forests
The AZNST does not enter any wilderness areas in the Coconino and Kaibab national forests, but it does skirt the perimeter of the Kachina Peaks Wilderness on the Coconino and the Saddle Mountain Wilderness on the Kaibab.
