The forest offers a wide array of outdoor activities that are not only fun, but also educational. One popular program is the Moonwalk program. This provides a family-oriented activity that introduces visitors to the cultural and natural history of the Black Hills. 

Another popular site is the Pactola Visitor Center. Many exhibits and programs are displayed, along with informational brochures and maps. Also the center is located next to Pactola Lake, which offers camping and many water activities.
