Due to a lapse in federal funding, this USDA website will not be actively updated. Once funding has been reestablished, online operations will continue. On-going operational updates will be posted here (https://www.fs.fed.us/shutdown) as we are able to provide them.

Bicycling

Choose from the following to find a site:

There is an extensive system of trails in some parts of the forest, however most of them are steep and/or rocky and can be unsuitable to even expert bikers.

Hikers and horses have the right of way over a bike. Exercise extreme caution when approaching horses. These animals can react violently to the sudden appearance of a fast-moving person on a strange machine.

Please do not ride off designated routes. Vegetation in the Southwest is easily damaged, and the decomposed granite soils are very susceptible to erosion.

Litter is a problem almost everywhere. If you pack something in, please pack it back out. Also exercise extreme caution while using fire.
