Developed through a partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the mobile application company OnCell, the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests app provides important forest information on visitors’ personal mobile devices. The app includes a mobile tour of the forest, with pages dedicated to historical landmarks, recreational opportunities, and ranger stations. Each page includes site information, an audio tour, photos, and directions for how to get to the site. The app links back to related pages of the main Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests website, allowing visitors access to more in-depth information when needed. Once downloaded, the mobile app does not require an Internet connection to use, making it a handy guide while visiting some of the forest’s more remote locations.

Downloading the app is easy: simply search for “Nez Perce Clearwater” in your device’s app store. It is free to download and available for both iOS and Android. The app can also be viewed online at (best viewed in Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome).

“I’m very excited that our app is now ready for visitors to enjoy,” says Jennifer Becar, Public Affairs Specialist with the forest. “The mobile tour offers a glimpse into some of the most special places on the Nez Perce-Clearwater. Hopefully, visitors old and new will be inspired to go out and enjoy the forest!”

Employees from across the forest worked together to record audio tours, write interpretive information about the tour sites, and collect modern and historical photos of each location. Forest officials encourage visitors to check back in on the app frequently, as it will be continually updated with new tour sites, photos, and information.
