The breathtaking landscapes found in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests feature a wide variety of ecosystems, from mountain meadows to dry and hot canyons. With elevations varying from 1500-9000 feet and covering a wide variety of terrain, the weather and current conditions can widely vary across the forest. Snow has been known to happen at high elevations during the summer and the Salmon River can be very hot early in the year.  This means that visitors to our forest should find out what the likely forecast is in the area they are visiting. For additional information, please don't hesitate to call our local office, where our highly informed staff can provide additional information and answer your questions.
