Planning
Each National Forest and Grassland is governed by a Land Management Plan (Forest Plan) in accordance with the National Forest Management Act (NFMA). The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests have a Land Management Plan that provides comprehensive management direction for resources on the National Forest System lands that was revised in 2025 under the 2012 Forest Planning Rule. This Plan includes desired conditions, standards, and guidelines for management, conservation, and use of the Forests. A monitoring plan on the Forests ensures projects are moving the Forest’s land and resources towards desired conditions and identifies conditions that might require an amendment or revision of the Forest Plan.
