Maps & Publications

Maps are a must-have if you are venturing into the outdoors. We have maps available online and in our local district offices.

Did you know you don't need a phone signal to use our maps? Download one of our maps and open up the file when you are out on the trail.

Maps and brochures are available free or by purchase at local Forest offices and online at US Geological Survey, to assist visitors with planning for their trips or to provide directions to the many accessible areas on the Forest.  Maps are not available at the Forest Supervisors office in Idaho Falls, Id.

All Forest Visitor Maps

Visitor Maps for each national forest and grassland provide forest-wide information on attractions, facilities, services, and opportunities. These maps are available to purchase from individual forests and many retail outlets. The most comprehensive source for maps is the US Geological Survey. Forest Visitor Maps are also available on mobile technology through the Avenza Map Store. These maps DO NOT show all existing Forest Service roads. For a map that shows the most up to date road and motorized trail information see the information on obtaining a Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUM).

Motor Vehicle Use Maps are the official map for designating all roads, trails and areas available for public motorized travel on National Forest lands. These free maps are available at Caribou-Targhee National Forest district offices.
