The Forest Service follows NEPA regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Under this rule, Forest Service officials determine which proposed projects are shared for public input.

The agency no longer issues a schedule of proposed actions (SOPA) report. Below is the current list of proposed projects available for review—your opportunity to learn more, share feedback, and stay engaged in decisions that shape the future of our public lands.

Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands Projects

The project will utilize mechanical harvest methods, hand treatments, and prescribed fire to improve forest health and hazardous fuels on approximately 2993 acres within forest stands. https://usfs-public.box.com/s/opvpx38l17q5c6l60me5h0fp6vik6py6

The Forest Service is revising its land management plan for the Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands to meet the requirements of the National Forest Management Act and the 2012 Planning Rule (36 CFR 219). This effort will result in a standalone land management plan for the grasslands.

This project seeks to conduct deferred maintenance trail work and new trail construction to the Indian Creek Trail System (NFST 800), this also includes the restoration/closure of non-system trail routes. Comment on the project: https://cara.fs2c.usda.gov/Public/CommentInput?project=210745

Equal value land exchange of 94 acres of federal land for 120 acres of private land between the US Forest Service and Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp.

This project will re-organize the existing parking area to provide additional capacity, increasing the number of spaces from 65 to 82 and improve ingress and egress. New vault toilets will be added.

The Forest is proposing a combination of vegetation treatments and prescribed fire to reduce hazardous fuel loading and fire intensity while enhancing forest health and resiliency across the Pikes Peak Ranger District.

Proposal to amend permits(FS) or issue ROW grants(BLM) to replace wood poles with steel poles, adjust ROW width, and identify access roads on electric transmission line where it crosses FS and BLM lands. The line capacity 115kV remains the same.

The Forest Service has received a proposal for a new trail segment connecting the new municipal trail west of a subdivision near Monument, CO to NFST 715. A map of the proposed trail alignment is available here: https://usfs-public.box.com/s/cgl2ykmrf3j6pz84b5a11qa5x2mscv4m
