Island Unit

An island of National Forest land located west of Flathead Lake and southwest of Kalispell, MT. Managed by the Swan Lake Ranger District. 

There are many recreation opportunities on the east side of the unit, above the town of Lakeside:
• Lakeside to Blacktail TH (hiking, mountain biking)
• Blacktail Nordic Trails (xc skiing)
• Blacktail Ski Area (downhill skiing and snowboarding)
• Access to Wild Bill trail system (motorized jeep trails)
On the north side of the unit 
• Foys to Blacktail TH access (hiking, mountain biking)
On the west side of the unit
• Will Bill trail system (motorized jeep trails)

Directions

Main access is off of HWY 93 S on Blacktail Rd at the town of Lakeside. You can access Wild Bill from HWY 2 W, turn onto Kila Rd and follow signs to the TH.
