Forest Wide Precommercial Thin
The purpose and need of this project are to select and retain a mixture of trees that will sustain or create the desired forest conditions for wildlife habitat and forage, timber yields, and resistance to insects and disease, to maintain healthy, dynamic ecosystems that meet land management objectives, integrate an understanding of the role fire plays in regulating stand structure into the development of silvicultural prescriptions, and to emphasize the use of prescribed fire in range and wildlife habitat improvement projects.
