Red Pines Project
On November 2, 2006 , Nez Perce National Forest Supervisor, Jane Cottrell, made the decision to proceed with activities described in the Red Pines Environmental Impact Statement. Alternative E-Modified is the selected alternative. Alternative E-Modified would implement reduction of forest fuels through treatment on 3,452 acres within Red River watershed, including activity fuels treatments. This alternative would not treat fuels, harvest timber or construct roads in Inventoried Roadless Areas, or newly allocated old growth areas. Fuels reduction activities would not occur in riparian areas or high hazard landslide prone areas.
