Pittsburgh Landing

Forest Road 493 is a narrow, steep, gravel road to the Snake River within Hells Canyon. Once an expansive Native American village site, today Pittsburgh Landing is popular for river access and camping. Permits are required year-round for private river trips.For more information, visit the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area web site.

$8.00 per night site fee for 1 camp set up - such as a tent or camper.  There is an additional fee per extra vehicle.  Contact Hell's Canyon National Recreation Area at (208) 628-3916 for more info on sites.

Licensed outfitters are ready to help the amateur plan an adventure on the Snake River. Reservations with outfitters must be made in advance.

Directions

From Highway 95 turn east into White Bird, ID then west onto county road toward Hammer Creek. Cross the river bridge and take an immediate left onto Forest Road 493.
