Forest Order
Pursuant to 16 United States Code (U.S.C.) § 551 and 36 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) § 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on National Forest System lands in the Bighorn National Forest, Tongue Ranger District, Sheridan County, Wyoming. The “Restricted Area” is further described as T 56 N, R 88 W, Sections 31 and 32, and depicted on the attached map labeled Exhibit A and made a part of this Special Order.
PROHIBITIONS:
- No person shall smoke within the Burgess Junction Visitor Center building. 36 CFR § 261.52 (c)
- No person shall possess a beverage that is defined as an alcoholic beverage by Wyoming state law within the Burgess Junction Visitor Center building. 36 CFR § 261.58 (bb)
- No person or party shall build, maintain, attend, or use a fire or campfire within the fenced perimeter of the Burgess Junction Visitor Center as delineated on Exhibit A. 36 CFR § 261.52 (a)
- No person or party shall camp within the fenced perimeter of the Burgess Junction Visitor Center as delineated on Exhibit A. 36 CFR § 261.52 (e)
- Bringing in or possessing an animal inside the Burgess Junction Visitor Center building. 36 CFR § 261.58 (s)
- No person or party shall possess or use any over-snow vehicle within the fenced perimeter of the Burgess Junction Visitor Center as delineated on Exhibit A. 36 CFR § 261.54 (a) and 36 CFR § 261.56
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50 (e), the following persons are exempt from this Special Order:
- Persons with a Forest Service permit specifically authorizing the prohibited act or omission.
- Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Persons engaged in a business, trade, or occupation associated with the Burgess Junction Visitor Center are exempt from prohibitions 3 and 4.
- Any person using a guide or service animal is exempt from prohibition 5.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.
This order is in effect until rescinded, or until December 31, 2027, whichever occurs first.
