Take on the ‘76 Trail—a short but challenging hike that rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views of Spearfish Canyon. This ¾-mile trail climbs over 1,000 feet in a short distance, so expect a steep and strenuous trek.

Trail Details:

  • Foot traffic only (no pets, bikes, horses, or motor vehicles).
  • A true workout, but the sense of seclusion and the beauty of the canyon make it worth every step.

Getting There

Parking

The trailhead sits along Roughlock Falls Road on the west side of Highway 14A near Savoy, South Dakota. Parking at the trailhead is very limited, so hikers are encouraged to use the Roughlock Falls Nature Area parking lot, just past the trailhead and Spearfish Canyon Lodge.
