Brush Creek/Hayden Ranger District (Saratoga, Wyo.)

- The District office hours are M-F, 8 am - 4:30 pm, closed noon- 1 pm for lunch.
- The Brush Creek Visitor Center is open, Thurs.-Mon., 9 am - 5 pm
- WYO 70 (Battle Pass) and WYO 130 (Snowy Range) are open.
- Some campgrounds do not have amenities yet, but can be used with no fee. In those cases, bring your own water and toiletries. Pack it in/pack it out.
Douglas Ranger District (Douglas, Wyo.)
as of 5/22/2026
- District office is open from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Mon. - Fri., excluding holidays.
- If fee sites are closed for the season and unmaintained, they still may be used without trash service or water. Walk in, pack it in, pack it out.
Laramie Peak
- Campbell Creek, Curtis Gulch, and Esterbrook campgrounds are open but without potable water
- Friend Park campground and Laramie Peak trailhead are not accessible due to snow
- Please be advised that after significant moisture, the switchbacks from Glendo on Horseshoe Creek to Esterbrook should not be driven with a camper
- Do not attempt to drive on Black Mountain Lookout Road
Thunder Basin National Grassland
- A vault toilet has been installed at East Iron Creek Reservoir.
- Conditions in many places are rough. The main roads, Dull Center, Steinle and Lynch, are passable, but many side roads have deep ruts and are not passable.
- In the mining areas, County Roads 4, 69 and 83 have been relocated and are not accurately depicted on current maps. Use GPS or web-based mapping solutions to determine your current location.
Hahns Peak/Bears Ears District (Steamboat Springs, Colo.)
as of 5/22/2026
- All District campgrounds are closed for the season. Expected to open after Memorial Day.
- The District office front desk is temporarily closed
- Trails off Highway 40 are a mix of snow, slush, and mud
- Buffalo Pass is closed annually for elk calving and is scheduled to reopen on June 15
- Hikers should expect snow remaining above 10,000 feet, along with muddy and slushy trail conditions

Laramie Ranger District (Laramie, Wyo.)
as of 5/29/2026
- Pine and Willow along Libby Creek, as well as North Fork, Tie City, Vedauwoo, and Yellow Pine campgrounds are open. All other District campgrounds are still closed
- Vedauwoo gazebo and picnic sites are open
- Pole Mountain unit roads are open
- WYO Hwy 130 is open
- The Centennial Visitor Center is open. Call for hours, 307-742-9730
- Active timber operations are occurring near the Little Laramie Trailhead and along Sand Lake Road (NFSR 101)
- Daily closures for hazard tree removal are occurring along the 530 and 542 Roads
Parks Ranger District (Walden, Colo.)
as of 5/20/2026
- All Campgrounds are currently open and are first come/first serve. Reservations open June 1 on REC.gov
- Pines, Hidden Lakes, and Big Creek campgrounds do not have water available yet
- Forest Roads are being actively cleared. Primary routes are clear and accessible
- Forest Road 895.1 "Camp Creek" is currently closed, opens June 1
- Forest Road 60 "Buff Pass" is currently partially closed, opens July 1
- Forest Road 80 to Hog Park is unpassable at Buffalo Park due to snow
- Expect wet/snowy trail conditions with snow above 10,000 ft
- The District office front desk is temporarily closed
- Grizzly Guard Station will be available for reservations in Rec.gov beginning June 1
Yampa Ranger District (Yampa, Colo.)
as of 5/22/2026
- All District campgrounds are open and available on a first-come basis (no reservations)
- Forest Road 900 is now clear and fully accessible to the end at Stillwater Reservoir
- Yamcolo, Bear Lake, Crosho, Chapman and Sheriff Reservoir are now fishable from shore or by small boat
- Dunckley Pass and the Scenic byway is now passable from Yampa to Meeker
- Office hours are Tues, Wed, Thurs from 10:30am-4:30pm (Call ahead if purchasing passes/permits to ensure availability)
