Know Before You Go

By knowing the rules and weather conditions of your destination, you can make sure that you are prepared for your hike, trail ride, snowmobile excursion, ski day or backpacking trip. Please review these tips and resources before your trip. 

• Check road conditions for your destination at either cotrip.org or wyoroad.info.
• Review Current Conditions for the Medicine Bow-Routt Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland.
• Be aware of area closures, restrictions and other rules in place by reviewing Forest Orders.
• Follow these tips when using a recreational drone on National Forest System Lands.
• Visit weather.gov to view forecasts and weather alerts.
• Review tips and tricks to Recreate Responsibly.
• Be aware that parking lots and recreation sites may be crowded, so have a Plan B destination as a contingency plan, in case Plan A's parking lot is full.
