Elk Mountain Trailhead

Designated trailhead with access to trails into Troublesome Basin roadless area. This is a non-motorized, multi-use trail. It is a moderate hike with camping spots along the way. There are plenty of opportunities for solitude during the summer months, but during hunting season, this area is heavily used.  There are no developed facilities and the setting is sagebrush and aspen/conifer forest area. Timberline is at approximately 10,500 feet elevation.

Directions

From Granby, drive west on Hwy 40 for approximately 2 miles. Take the right hand turn driving on Hwy 125 north. Drive approximately 8 miles and turn left on Forest Road 112. Drive approximately 6 miles and the Elk Mountain Trailhead is on the right hand side of the road.
