  • Devil's Head Peregrine Falcon Protection Seasonal Closure Order

    This order affects the South Platte Ranger District.

    The purpose of this order is to protect peregrine falcons by restricting climbing, rappelling or similar activities on the cliffs and rocks of the restricted area during the peregrine falcon breeding season.

Forest Order

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a), the following act is prohibited on the National Forest System Lands described in this Order and depicted on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A (the “Restricted Area”). The Restricted Area is defined as the SE 1/4 of Section 22 and the SW 1/4 of Section 23, Township 9 South, Range 69 West, 6th P.M., which is on the southeast side of Devil’s Head and northeast side of Jackson Creek Road (NFSR 502) in the South Platte Ranger District, Pike National Forest, Douglas County.   

PROHIBITION: 

  1. Going into or being upon the cliffs and rocks in the restricted area between March 1st and July 31st. 36 CFR § 261.53(a)
