    Update/clarification: The Pueblo Interagency Zone Type 3 Team will be managing only the area of the Sharpe fire that is burning in Colorado. This includes firefighting activities, counting of acreage (in Colorado only) and containment.

    As of 6:00 p.m. 5/18/2026, the Pueblo Interagency Zone Type 3 Team assumed command of the Sharpe Fire to help give some relief to the local responders who have been fighting this fire since Sunday. 

    The team will be providing logistical and overhead support to firefighters continuing to work to contain this fire.

    Environmental HazardsPlease take extra precautions of the dust and smoke in the area, especially for those with heart disease, respiratory illnesses, the very young and the elderly. 
    RemarksWith the Colorado side of the Sharpe fire being 100% contained, many of the crews are demobilizing and returning home. The community can expect to see a few remaining fire engines and overhead in the area as they continue to patrol the fire lines and look for any additional hot spots in the interior of the fire footprint.
