Stone Cellar Guard Station Cabin
Stone Cellar Guard Station is a remote cabin located just outside the boundary to the La Garita Wilderness area in Saguache Park, an enormous and breathtaking intermountain grassland. The cabin features a large combination living room/bedroom with four bunk beds and a wood stove. The cabin is equipped with propane heat, refrigerator, oven, and an antique wood fired stove/oven in the kitchen.
Located close to the Continental Divide, this cabin affords visitors seeking solitude and seclusion an opportunity for a real Wilderness experience. The cabin is located in a meadow with Saguache Creek flowing through it, affording visitors excellent fishing right out the back door. The cabin is also located near the Stone Cellar Campground (approximately 1/2 mile away).

General Information
Renters are required to pack out all garbage. Make sure the fire in the outside fire ring and interior wood stoves are completely out. Clean the cabin, leaving it in the condition it was found or better. Please lock the door when leaving. Be sure to close and lock the gate when you leave. Occasionally Forest Service livestock are pastured near the cabin. Please do not interact with the animals.

Directions
This remote cabin is located 60 miles southwest of Saguache on Forest Road 787. To get to Saguache from Denver, travel south on Hwy 285. From Colorado Springs go south on Hwy 115 to Penrose, then west on Hwy 50 to Salida, then south on Hwy 285 to the town of Saguache. From Albuquerque travel about 57 miles north on I-25 to Santa Fe, to Hwy 285, then follow Hwy 285 to Saguache.
From Saguache take Hwy 114, 34 miles northwest, over North Pass. Take County Road 17GG south 4 miles to junction with County Road NN14, then east 1 mile to FR #787, then 21 miles south to the cabin. Alternate historic/scenic route: From Saguache, take Colorado Hwy 114, 22 miles northwest from Saguache. Follow Forest Road #750 (County Rd NN14) west/northwest 18.7 miles over Old Cochetopa Pass. Take Forest Road #787 south 21 miles to the Stone Cellar Campground then one additional mile west to the cabin.
From Gunnison take Hwy 50 to Hwy 114 then to County Road NN14. Turn right to FS #787 as above.
Travel Considerations
Roads may become impassable due to mud or snow during certain times of the year. Please call the Saguache Ranger District at 719-655-2547 for current conditions.

Water
Potable water is available at this site.
Water is available by hand pump and is tested monthly. Campers at the nearby Stone Cellar Campground are allowed to access the pump on foot, but only if it doesn't interfere with cabin guests.

Horse/Pack animals are not allowed at this site.
Horses and pack animals are not allowed on the cabin grounds or in the pastures next to the cabin.

The cabin is very remote and there is no phone coverage in the area.
