West Fork Campground

West Fork Campground is located between Wolf Creek Pass and Pagosa Springs. This secluded 10-acre campground has 28 campsites offering both sun and shade. There are 15 reservable sites with the remaining first-come, first-serve.  Most sites are suitable for large RVs. A few are next to the West Fork of the San Juan River.

Reservations

General Information

Mid-May through September. For specific open / closure dates, visit recreation.gov. 

Check-in time: 2:00 pm

Check-out time: 12:00 pm

If the site is empty, campers may come in anytime.

Quiet time is typically between 10pm - 6am. Please be a good neighbor and limit use of generators to no more than one hour at a time.

Maximum number of people per site: 8

Dogs must be leashed or otherwise physically restrained. Do not leave pets unattended.

Directions

From Pagosa Springs, CO: Travel east on U.S. Hwy 160 for 13.5 miles, then turn northwest on Forest Development Road #648 for 1.5 miles to campground entrance.

Parking

Equipment with wheels (RVs, campers, cars) must fit in the parking spur.  There is not any overflow parking available.

OHV Trail Riding Info

Trailheads for the Windy Pass and Treasure Mountain Trails are just across Hwy. 160 from the West Fork Road turnoff.

Hiking Info

The popular West Fork Trail, also known as the Rainbow Trail, begins a mile beyond the campground leading into the Weminuche Wilderness. The first portion passes through private property – stay on the trail and leave gates as you find them.

Fishing - River/Stream Info

You can fish in both Wolf Creek and the West Fork, but only skilled and patient fishermen may have much luck in these heavily fished streams.
