Pursuant to 36 CFR Sec. 261.50(a) and (bl, the following acts are prohibited within the boundaries of the Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest.

  1. Camping within 300 feet of a trailhead, except for the following:
  • Capitol Trailhead (S. 26, T. 9 S., R. 87 W., 6th P.M.);
  • Hardscrabble Trailhead (S. 27, T. 9 S., R. 87 W., 6th P.M.); and
  • Haypark/Thomas Lakes Trailhead (S. 5, T. 9 s.,   R. 87 w., 6th P.M.);
  • or as allowed by special use permit.

At the three trailheads exempted in this order tents and other improvements must be at least 15 feet from the parking area. 36 CFR 261.SS(el.

Pursuant to 36 CFR, Section 261,S0(e); the following persons are exempt from the prohibition contained in this order:

  1. Persons with a permit or contract specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
  2. Any federal, state, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
