Recreation Region: Blanco Ranger District

Middle Mountain TH #2200

The Middle Mountain trail is 5.7 miles long. It begins at Forest Road 218 at the bottom of Miller Creek and ends at Forest Road 217.

Shortly after leaving Miller Creek, the trail becomes a narrow catwalk that climbs steadily to the top of the ridge. There are few places to pass along the trail. The terrain below the trail drops precipitously, but there is scrub oak along most of this section which provides some visual security.

At the top of the ridge, the trail passes through scrub oak and wild roses, then through aspen and fir until it reaches the meadows on top.
