Morapos Trailhead

The Morapos Trailhead offers dispersed camping in the northernmost section of the White River National Forest, in an area adjacent to the Routt National Forest. The site offers access to a roadless section that is popular with hunters including the Wilson Mesa/Sleepy Cat Peak Trail (#1800) and the Salt Park Trail (#1805).

General Information

The Morapos Trailhead area is very busy during elk hunting season. Please use as little of the graveled surface as possible, and locate camp kitchens, etc., on the grass adjacent to your vehicle.

Directions

The Morapos Trailhead is located 46 miles north of Meeker, CO. Drive north out of Meeker on Colorado Highway 13 for 34 miles to the Morapos Creek Road junction.  Turn right and continue 12 miles to the forest boundary. The Morapos Trailhead campground is .25 of a mile past the boundary.
