Lower Sycamore OHV Recreation Area

Located in the Mesa Ranger District and less than an hour from Phoenix. This highly visited recreation area contains about 112 miles of motorized routes that vary in Design Use and challenge.

A highlight of this area is the vast sandy washes, seasonal water flow, and single-track trails. Entrances include Lower Sycamore (Sycamore & Bush OHV Staging Areas), Sugarloaf (Sugarloaf & Bobcat OHV Staging Areas), Mesquite, and Log Corral all on the west side of State Route 87.

Staging areas are located within 1 mile from each entrance. Heavy investment has been made by Partners and Volunteers by means of regular clean-ups, rehabilitation work, and lengthy pipe rail installation to prevent resource damage. Please remember to stay on the routes. Driving off-road is prohibited on the Tonto National Forest.

Currently, no permit is required for these trails or access points. A permit will be required in the future - stay tuned for more information!
