Greendale Campground

Greendale Campground is a serene and intimate campsite nestled within the stunning Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, part of the Ashley National Forest. The nearby Flaming Gorge Reservoir provides a wealth of exciting recreational activities, including boating, fishing, and swimming, making it the perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Greendale Campground is enveloped by a forest of towering ponderosa pines, providing partial shade. The ground beneath is adorned with grasses and a vibrant array of summer wildflowers, creating a picturesque setting.

Amenities include trash collection, with dump stations available for a fee at Antelope Flat, Deer Run, Firefighters Memorial, and Lodgepole Campground areas. 

Showers are accessible at Deer Run and Mustang Ridge for campers with proof of registration. Additionally, firewood can be purchased at the nearby Firefighters Campground.

  • Bear Canyon Trail is an easy 3-mile round-trip trail beginning a mile away, offering hiking and biking opportunities and leading to views of Red Canyon and Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
  • Beautiful Flaming Gorge Reservoir is less than 5 miles from the campground. The reservoir is known for its world-class fishing for lake, brown and rainbow trout.
  • Boating, water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and scuba diving are also popular activities. Cedar Springs Marina is 3.5 miles from the campground.
  • The Red Canyon Visitor Center is a must-visit destination that offers engaging interpretive programs and captivating displays, providing visitors with a deep understanding of the area's natural and cultural history. The center also boasts incredible scenic views of the dramatic canyon landscape, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers and photographers. Whether you're interested in learning more about the region or simply taking in the breathtaking vistas, the Red Canyon Visitor Center is sure to leave a lasting impression.
  • Flaming Gorge Dam offers guided tours of the working hydroelectric plant and the dam, and the adjacent visitor center contains area history exhibits.
  • The Green River below the dam provides spectacular rafting opportunities. A trip down the river offers unique geology, outlaw history and Native American rock art.

At a high mountain campground, visitors can expect cooler temperatures, especially during the evenings and early mornings. The air is crisp and refreshing, often carrying the scent of pine or other native flora. Weather conditions can vary, with the possibility of sudden changes, so it's important to be prepared for anything from sunny skies to brief rain or even snow showers.

Take highway 191 north 45 miles from Vernal, UT. From Manila, UT take highway 44 for 28 miles. Turn left on highway 191 and travel approximately two miles north. Approximately 75 miles south on highway 191 from Rock Springs, WY.
