Due to recent impacts from Hurricane Priscilla, the Pine Valley Recreation Area and Forsyth Fire burn scar experienced significant damage from flooding. The Pine Valley Recreation Area and campground is closed indefinitely for public safety. All reservations are refundable through 12/31/2025.

Dean Gardner Campground

Located near Pine Valley Wilderness and adjacent to Pine Valley Reservoir, this new campground offers campsites that are shaded by large Ponderosa pine trees. Horse riding, fishing, and hiking are popular in this area. Bike riding opportunities and horse trails are nearby. Several trails including the Whipple, Brown's Point, and Gardner Peak lead into the Pine Valley Wilderness area.

  • 21 single campsites (up to 8 people) with picnic tables, fire pits, and tent pads
  • 3 double sites (up to 16 people) with picnic tables, fire pits, and tent pads

  • No garbage disposal, please pack it out

Early May - Late September

  • Quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Campfires in developed fire pits only
  • Fireworks are prohibited
  • Dogs must be on leash
  • OHV/ATV use prohibited in the campground
  • Maximum length of stay: 14 days

Getting There

Directions

To reach the site from St. George, travel north on State Route 18 to Central, UT and turn east on forest route number 035. Continue east for 7 miles to Pine Valley. Turn east in town and drive 3 miles toward the Pine Valley Recreation Area.
