Big Creek Campground

Big Creek Campground, located on the west side of the Toiyabe Range, is a quaint site surrounded by water birch, cottonwood, and Russian olive trees at the mouth of a canyon along a creek which runs directly adjacent to the campground. This location provides direct access to Kingston Canyon and Groves Lake. 

General Information

  • 8 camp units.
  • High-clearance vehicles are recommended for site access due to road conditions.
  • This campground is fairly open, with limited big vegetation within making it ideal for
    those with travel trailers.

Mid May - late October, as weather and conditions allow.

Open 24 hours/day

  • Trailers are prohibited from crossing the top of Forest Service Road 002.
  • Dogs must be on a leash at campground.
  • Certified weed free hay required.

No Fees are required for this site.

Big Creek Campground is located about 12 miles southwest of Austin.

1. Take US 50 West. Approximately one mile from Austin, take the Big Creek Campground turnoff.

2. Continue south for 11 miles on Forest Service Road 002.
