Bridgeport Ranger District
The Bridgeport Ranger District office is located in Bridgeport (pop. 553), California. The District lies in four counties including Douglas, Lyon, and Mineral in Nevada and Mono in California. The Bridgeport Ranger District is over one million acres in both Nevada (637,654) and California (375,721).
The District is known for being a popular recreation spot in the Eastern Sierra Nevada and western Great Basin, since it borders the Yosemite National Park. The District also manages a congressionally designated winter recreation area located near Sonora Pass in California, which offers extreme backcountry snowmobiling with deep snow, big bowls, and steep mountainous terrain.
Rising from the Great Basin to the crest of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the District includes breathtaking vistas of vast landscapes in both California and Nevada. Elevations on the District range from 4,500 feet at Wilson Canyon to 12,370 feet at Dunderberg Peak, which is the highest point on the Forest. The District spans five mountain ranges and features alpine lakes, rugged backcountry, and beautiful meadows. Vegetation ranges from high alpine plant communities to salt desert flats.
Complexes
The Twin Lake recreation complex is located approximately 12 miles from Bridgeport in Mono County, California. The center piece of the area is Upper Twin Lake and Lower Twin Lake. Visitors flock to this area for the spectacular scenery and the abundance of recreation opportunities including hiking, backpacking, camping, boating, and fishing. Numerous trails in the area provide access to the Hoover Wilderness, including the popular Robinson Creek trail.

The Honeymoon Flat Campground is nestled on Robinson Creek amidst aspens and Jeffrey pines. Robinson Creek has good fishing opportunities.
