Ebbetts Pass Trailhead

Located on CA-4 at Ebbetts Pass, this trailhead provides access to the Pacific Crest Trail and the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness. This is a popular location for both day hikers and backpackers.

May - October, depending upon weather conditions.

Open 24 hours/day

  • A wilderness permit is required for overnight visits within the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness. Wilderness permits are free and are self-issued at trailheads.
  • A free California Camp Fire Permit issued by CalFire is required for campfire, barbecue, and portable stove use. 
  • Dogs must be on leash at the trailhead.

No Fees are required for this site.
