Heber-Kamas Ranger District Lakes Speed
PROHIBITIONS:
Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b) the following act is prohibited on the area as described in this order, all within the Heber-Kamas Ranger District, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest until further notice.
- Operating a motorboat on Butterfly, Lilly, Teapot, Moosehorn, Pass, Bud and Bonny Lakes. [36 CFR 261.58(n)]
- Operating a boat with anything other than an electric motor on Trial, Lost, Mirror and Washington Lakes. [36 CFR 261.58(w)]
- Operating a motorboat on Smith and Morehouse Reservoir in excess of a trolling and/or wakeless speed. [36 CFR 261.58(q)]
- Camping within ½ mile of the Smith and Morehouse reservoir high water line except in Smith and Morehouse and Ledgefork Campgrounds. [36 CFR 261.58(e)]
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e) the following persons are exempt from this order:
- Persons with special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.
- Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Federal or State administrative personnel in performance of an official duty.
AREA DESCRIBED:
No motor allowed on Butterfly Lake, Lilly Lake, Teapot Lake, Moosehorn Lake, Pass Lake, Bud Lake, Bonnie Lake located along the Mirror Lake Highway (Utah State Highway 150) as shown on attached map.
Electric motors allowed on Trial Lake, Lost Lake, Mirror Lake and Washington Lake all located along the Mirror Lake Highway (Utah State Highway 150) as shown on attached map.
Motors allowed only at wakeless speed on Smith and Morehouse reservoir located within the Weber River Drainage as shown on attached map.
PURPOSE:
To reduce user conflicts, protect resources from unacceptable damage and to provide for public safety.
IMPLEMENTATION:
- This Order will be in effect when signed and shall remain in effect until further notice.
- Attached map shows the area affected by this Order.
- Violation of the above prohibition(s) is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual, or $10,000 for an organization and/or imprisonment for not more than 6months imprisonment. [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3571(b)(6),
Title 18 USC 3581(b)(7).
- Further information regarding this Order may be obtained at the Heber- Kamas Ranger District Office, (435) 783-4338 and the Uintah-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Supervisor's Office, (801) 236-3400.
- This Order supersedes any previous Order(s) prohibiting the same, or similar acts prohibited by this Order in the areas covered by this Order.
