MIRROR LAKE HIGHWAY CAMPING & VEHICLE ACCESS

SPECIAL ORDER OF FOREST SUPERVISOR

WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST

 

Six areas located along the Mirror Lake Highway on the Kamas Ranger District, Wasatch-Cache National Forest have recently been closed to camping and vehicle access. This order has been established to protect wetlands, riparian areas, and stream banks from damage. 

 

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the areas described below and as shown on the map. All lands affected are located on the Kamas Ranger District, Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This order is in effect until further notice.

  1. Camping in areas signed as closed or where physical barriers have been established. [36 CFR 261.58(e)]
  2. Possessing or using any type of motorized vehicle. [36 CFR 261.56]

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e), the following acts, or persons, are exempt from this order:

  1. Persons with a permit or contract authorizing the otherwise prohibited act.
  2. Authorized Federal, state, or local officers, or members of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of official duty, when authorized by the District Ranger.

Area Described: Part of the National Forest Lands in Sections 20, 26, 27, and 35, T.2S, R.7E; Sections 2, T.3S, R.7E., and Sections 4 and 5, T.3S., R.8E., Salt Lake Base and Meridian. (SEE ATTACHED MAP)

Violation of this prohibition is punishable by fine of not more than $5,000 or imprisonment of not more than 6 months or both (16 USC 551; 18 USC 357l(b) (6)
