WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST

The following act is established to provide for public safety and to prevent significant water, soil, and vegetation resource damage.
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited in the areas described on the attached map and described in this order within the Wasatch-Cache National Forest until further notice.
Possessing or using any motorized or mechanized wheeled conveyance on any portion of the 0.7 mile trail and/or boardwalk that surrounds Silver Lake. [36 CFR 261. 55 (c)] .
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:
- Persons with a permit.
- Authorized Federal, state, or local officers, or members of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of official duty, when authorized by the District Ranger.
- Individuals who require the use of a wheelchair or motorized cart.
Area Described: The 0.7 mile trail and boardwalk that surrounds Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Salt Lake County, Utah. (The area to be closed is delineated on the attached map - Exhibit A.)

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 or imprisonment of not more than 6 months or both.(16 USC 551; 18USC 3571(b)(6)
This order supersedes any previous order for the above described area and same said violation(s).
