SPECIAL ORDER OF FOREST SUPERVISOR

UINTA-WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST

PLEASANT GROVE RANGER DISTRICT

SILVER LAKE FLAT ROAD AND AREA CLOSURE

PROHIBITIONS:

Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b) the following acts are prohibited in the area and road as described in this order, the area and road affected are located on the Pleasant Grove Ranger District, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.  This order is in effect when signed June 27, 2022 through June 27, 2027. 

1. Being in or upon the road as described below with a trailer. See attached map.  [36 CFR 261.54(a)]

2. No overnight camping within a 1/4 mile of Silver Lake Flat Reservoir

   as described below.   See attached map.   [36 CFR 261.58(e)]

3. No campfires within 1/4 mile of the Silver Lake Flat Reservoir 

   and road as described below.  See attached map. [36 CFR 261.52 (a)]

EXEMPTIONS: 

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e) the following persons are exempt from this order:

1. Persons with special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.
2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
3. Federal or State administrative personnel in performance of an official duty.

AREA DESCRIBED:

Silver Lake Flat Road (Forest Service Road #008) from the junction with the Granite Flat Road to its terminus at the upper end of Silver Lake Flat Reservoir, including the Silver Lake Summer Home Access Road (Forest Service Road #009).  Township 4 South, Range 3 East, Sections 6 and 7; Township 3 South, Range 2 East, Section1, Salt Lake Base Meridian, as shown on map.

Silver Lake Flat Road (Forest Road #008) to Silver Lake (Forest Road #036), Township 4 South, Range 2 East, Section1; Township 4 South, Range 3 East, Section 6; Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Section 31 and Township 3 South, Range 2 East, Sections 24, 25, 26, 35 and 36, Salt Lake Base Meridian, as shown on map.  

PURPOSE:

Purpose of the Closure is to provide for health and public safety and to protect the natural resources in the above-described area.

IMPLEMENTATION:

1. This Order will be in effect when signed June 27, 2022 through June 27, 2027.
2. Attached map shows the areas affected by this Order.
3. Violation of the above prohibition(s) is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization and/or imprisonment for not more than 6months imprisonment.  [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3571(b)(6), Title 18 USC 3581(b)(7)].
4. Further information regarding this Order may be obtained at the Pleasant Grove Ranger District Office, Pleasant Grove, Utah (801) 785-3563 or the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Supervisors Office, South Jordan, Utah (801) 999-2103.
5. This Order supersedes any previous Order(s) prohibiting the same, or similar acts prohibited by this Order in the areas (and/or roads or trails) covered by this Order.
